In order to remove the joint from the account a new membership application would need to be filled out and the joint would need to sign to remove themselves. In the event the joint is not able to be located or not willing to sign you can open a brand new account and have everything transferred over. A joint is the second person listed on the account. If the person you want removed is first on the account, they can't be removed by the second person listed.
